Dr. Ann Marie Egloff

Dr. Ann Marie Egloff was born in Owosso, Michigan, into a family emphasizing the importance of education and community service. Her mother, a science teacher, and her father, a school administrator, helped foster a deep respect for learning and service. At Swartz Creek High School, she excelled in math and science, earning honors and recognition. Outside of academics, she participated in varsity basketball, track and field, and diving. She was involved in student council, theater, and ballet, showing her commitment to various activities.

Dr. Egloff pursued a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Michigan, where she furthered her interest in scientific research. This led to her first professional role at Warner-Lambert Parke-Davis, where she contributed to projects focused on molecular cloning and small-molecule inhibitors for cancer and metabolic diseases. Her work there was acknowledged through employee recognition, highlighting her contributions to the advancement of research.

Her desire to deepen her understanding of disease mechanisms led Dr. Egloff to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. There, she focused on immune cell signaling pathways, gaining critical insights into how the body responds to diseases like cancer. After completing her PhD, she undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Human Genome Research Institute, where she researched cancer-causing gene mutations, earning recognition for her contributions to cancer research.

Dr. Egloff's career advanced at the University of Pittsburgh, where she participated in an NIH/NCI-sponsored Cancer Education and Career Development Program. Her work centered on translating laboratory findings into clinical applications, particularly focusing on personalized cancer treatments. As an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, she led research on head and neck cancers and was key in developing targeted therapies for cancer patients.

In 2015, Dr. Egloff transitioned to Boston University, expanding her research and taking on additional mentoring roles. She now works at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, continuing her focus on tumor immunology and the development of precision cancer treatments.
